Dane and Katie Bateman began the journey of establishing Darlington Stud in Greenmount early in 2022, driven by a desire to diversify their family's beef cattle operation. With both Dane and Katie having grown up around breeding performance horses and being deeply involved in Campdrafting, they quickly built one of the most reputable spelling and breeding farms on the Darling Downs. Their success is rooted in their passion and meticulous attention to detail, coupled with a core belief: the only way to thrive in the horse industry, regardless of the discipline, is to treat every horse as if it were your own. The family-run operation thrives with the help of their three children, who eagerly pitch in between school, football, and Campdrafting. Darlington Stud spans 500 acres in the Greenmount Valley, seamlessly integrating mare breeding, spelling, and the stallion station, all working in harmony.
